Stephanie Bunn lectures in Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and conducts research into Central Asian felt textiles and basketry worldwide. She collected and co-curated the first ever British Museum exhibition of Kyrgyz felt textiles, is author of Nomadic Felt (British Museum Press), editor of Anthropology and Beauty (Routledge) and co-editor of The Material Culture of Basketry (Bloomsbury). She has curated numerous exhibitions during her research, and has coordinated the Woven Communities Project www.wovencommunities.org, working with the Scottish Basketmakers Circle and Scottish museums for the past 10 years. She is currently collaborating with Professor Ricardo Nemirovsky researching the dynamic relationship between hands-on basket-work and mathematical cognition for an interdisciplinary research project, Forces in Translation.
